Urgent! Ask for help about employment related issue.

One month ago I got offer letter from A company, therefore I quit my current position in University, but just one week before I am supposed to begin to work in that A company, they call me that they are going to break that employment agreement and agree to pay me 2 weeks salary if I sign release letter for them ( It means that I have no leagle right to sue them whatsoever). However my intuition is that 2 weeks salary is unfair, I am unemployment right now as a result of their unacceptable behavior, can I ask more compensation than 2 weeks salary? if anyone have similar experience or have idea to deal with this situation, please give me suggestion, I really appreciate your help and suggestion.

      你可以做一下几项:
      1. 到省HR部门"FILE A COMPLAINT", 即使你请律师, 他们也会做这一步. 要尽快去, 有期限.

      2. 约一个律师谈, 要求半小时的FREE CONSULTATION, 把情况将给他听, 尤其要带上合同. 问他通常这样的CASE如何处理.
      尤其要问: ARE YOU WILLING TO TAKE THIS CASE ON A CONTIGENCY BASIS. 如果他们答YES, 说明他们对你的CASE有信心, 否则他不会接. 但注意有些LAW FIRM压根不做CONTIGENCY的案子, 不要从他们的拒绝中感到没希望.

      3. 花几百元RETAIN A LAWYER, 要求他给公司写信, 如果你的要求不是很高, 比如想要3个月的工资, 很有可能公司会和你SETTLE, 因为这比他们请律师要便宜.

      4. 当然你要很清楚, 不管多有理的CASE, 都有不能赢或者即使能赢, 你没有DEEP POCKET把这个官司打完. 那你的律师费就白花了.

      5. 还要注意, 你和什么样的公司打官司. 不要和没有钱的公司打官司.

      个人建议, 请律师看合同, 通过律师写信, 要求3-6个月工资, 如果3个月你就满足的话, 可能性很大; 如果你的胃口大, 风险也大. 如果律师第一封信没有起作用, 请律师去FILE A WRIT(不需要很多钱, 你也可以自己去法庭FILE), 这样公司知道你动真格的, 而且他们必须请律师FILE A RESPONSE, 很有可能就和你SETTLE了.
